Known for their attention to historical detail and accuracy, the Thoenes shine in Jesus Wept. My reading of Thoene novels goes back to 1994 and  Twilight of Courage, so it was a no-brainer for me to want to help and participate in this blog tour!

The story brought a new dimension to Jesus—a friend. We know Him as Lord, and we know he had friends, but it’s one thing to read that He had friends and another to see what that friendship might have looked like. The story is told through Lazarus’s point of view, and it was intriguing to see the Thoene’s tie several events in the New Testament (the healing of the boy with mud on his eyes, the healing of the beggar told to pick up his mat on the Sabbath) to Lazarus’s life. Some felt a bit too convenient, but it did not detract from the story at all. An enjoyable read, especially for those who enjoy biblical fiction.
