Welcome to the Autumn 2014 Scavenger Hunt

You have arrived at Stop #19. The hunt begins at noon (Mountain Time Zone) on October 17, 2014. You may have arrived here before the start, which could mean all of the sites aren’t ready quite yet. Once the official start has begun, you should go to Stop #1 (www.robinleehatcher.com) and then work your way through the sites, gathering clues and entering bonus giveaways, until you reach the final stop which will also be on the site of Robin Lee Hatcher.

The hunt ends on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at one minute before midnight (Mountain). That means you have all of the weekend to finish it, so take your time. Enjoy reading the exclusive content the authors have prepared for you. You will collect a CLUE IN RED at each stop. Write them down as you go. At the end of the hunt, you will enter the clues into a Rafflecopter form. (The answer will make sense, even if you aren’t familiar with the quote.)

The hunt is open to international entries. The grand prize is a Kindle Fire HDX. Two runners-up will receive a new release from each of the participating authors.

It is my extreme pleasure to host my dear friend, Lynette Eason, on this 2014 Autumn Scavenger Hunt. Lynette and I have forged a great friendship, one in which we realize we had many things in common. . .including our kitchen windows.

Working with Deaf Children

Simon Harding is Dani Harding’s 11 year old son in Nowhere To Turn. He’s clever, he’s stubborn –and he’s deaf. Simon became deaf when he tried to intervene in his father’s beating of his mother.

Nowhere To Turn is a story that holds a special place in my heart. It’s true – I love children. But even more, I love deaf children. Deafness runs in my family so I suppose when I was choosing a career (before I started writing) deaf education was a given. I got a Masters in Deaf Education and taught at the Deaf school in Spartanburg, SC before I quit to write full time. I met a lot of great kids during those years and came to love and admire most of them.

So when I decided to give Dani a son, I decided to make him deaf as a tribute to all of the amazing deaf kids I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working with over the past 15 years. I hope you get a chance to read Nowhere To Turn and meet Simon. I think you’ll love him, too.
