ACFW Conference Favorites and Memories

Ronie ACFW 2 Comments

((Dineen Miller & Sara Mills–two UH-MAY-ZING friends!!)) Each year in September, the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) holds its annual conference. And each year, the location is different, which is one thing I’m really enjoying since it enables me to visit cities I’ve never been to before. I joined ACFW just after the annual conference in 2004, and quickly grew jealous of the colorful discussions among the various writers on the main e-loop. I determined in my heart I wouldn’t miss the next one. First first conference was in September of 2005, and ACFW held it in Nashville. What I loved is that my first editor appointment was with WestBow/WaterBrook editor, Amanda Bostic. Ironically, it was her very first appointment …

Ronie ACFW, Fiction Finder 3 Comments

In October, I wrote a piece of the Afictionado e-zine about Fiction Finder, a magnificent website whose design and implementation were chaired by my big “brother,” John Olson. If you are ever looking for an awesome book to read, but don’t know the title or the author, check this out. Or if you’re just in the mood for a good action-adventure flick (after you’ve read my books, of course) you can find one with this amazing site. Here is ACFW’s Official Press Release: FictionFinder.com: Finding Christian fiction the easy wayACFW launches new free online resource to search for titles PALM BAY, Fla. — With over 500,000 books published each year, it is harder than ever to find a new book …

From September 17-21, 2008, more than five hundred writers, agents, and editors converged on the Sheraton Bloomington in Minneapolis, MN for the American Christian Fiction Writers annual conference. I worked throughout the conference in a few different capacities, but it was still a superb time! I met with the incredible Barbara Scott, my editor (hey! I actually have an editor now!!) from Abingdon Press. In all honesty, I didn’t expect her to remember much about my story since I knew she was working on the macros for multiple other books at the moment. But she had an uncanny recall! And it was so clear to me that she caught the vision and passion for Dead Reckoning. I’m absolutely amazed and …

ACFW’s Book of the Year Contest

Ronie ACFW, Book of the Year, conference 2 Comments

Howdy, y’all! Well, I’m back–sorta resurfacing as things in my life came to a head and nearly sunk me. LOL I’ve moved to a new home, and this move brings my family back together after 5 months apart. I am thankful to God for all He’s worked out for me and my family. On top of that, I have had the extreme pleasure of coordinating the ACFW Book of the Year contest! It’s a ton of work, but I will always treasure the six hours of phone calls I made–and hearing the joy and exuberance return to many, many voices as I informed them of their finaling in the contest. I’ve since returned the scoresheets to non-finaling entrants, and I’ve …

ACFW Conference rocks!

Ronie ACFW, Camy Tang, Dineen Miller, Steve Laube 5 Comments

Well, it took me nearly all week to recuperate from the conference. I am finally feeling like a human being again. I’m rested, focused, and very passionate about writing for God’s glory. A lot happened at this conference. I’ll have more pictures to share soon (yeah, I know…I’m ancient because I used an ‘old fashioned’ camera where you had to actually look through the teensy square box to take the photo, and now I have to actually get the film developed–GASP!), but just had to post this one taken by Ane Mulligan during the Keynote Luncheon in Robin Caroll’s Presidential Suite–and yes, it was SWEET! It’s me, Dineen Miller, and Camy Tang. At conference, God supernaturally freed me from the …
