So, I’ve been downing some great books the past few weeks, squeezing in great reads while I write the Denali Dreams novellas. Here’s what I’ve read in the last month (well, the ones I’m willing to say are good reads).
Tracy Higley’s GARDEN OF MADNESS (releases in 2013) Tracy is truly a master at weaving history into a compelling tale, and this peek into the kingdom of Nebuchadnezzar left me thinking of the opulence and pride, the characters for several days after. A MUST READ!
Ransome Riggs’s MISS PEREGRINE’S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN I just finished this book last night, and I found the interwoven story and peculiar pictures fascinating. A brilliant concept. The story was just as compelling, but I’d warn readers to thinnk of the book as two parts (SPOILER: once the house is explained, a new journey begins), otherwise the story feels like it has a very sagging middle. Wonderful, peculiar story! 😀
Candace Calvert’s TRAUMA PLAN (releases in 2013) Candace has a voice and style all her own, with witty and winsome characters. I really enjoyed her story of Jack Travis, with is military background and his gift of healing. Wonderful story!
And right now, I’ve got about as many books that I’ve started reading, including:
PROTECTION FOR HIRE by Camy Tang
FAILSTATE by John Otte
11/22/63 by Stephen King
SKIN MAP by Stephen Lawhead
